Food brochure
No one knows more about the role of industrial drying and engineering of high-performance powder products than GEA Niro. With data gathered from more than 75 years of experience and a reference list of some 10,000 plants, we’re equipped to engineer the properties you want into your powders – and the processes needed to produce them. Nowhere is this expertise more critical than in the food industry, where drying plants are an increasingly important key to better, safer, “greener” and more profitable food products. In this new food brochure you can read about the industries, which GEA Niro services, and the large variety of quality plants we supply.
You can find the food brochure here.
Versatile spray dryers for food
At GEA Niro we know a lot about spray drying—including the fact that not every plant needs to be custom built. That’s why we’ve designed a standard unit that can be installed in a fraction of the time—and in a fraction of the space—traditionally required. It’s a sensible choice for any company wanting to cut time to market but not quality. Not only is the VSD/F compact, easy to install and affordable, it’s highly versatile. Four configurations and three sizes provide the flexibility needed to produce different foods, flavors and other products, to the scale required. And units can be quickly reconfigured or expanded, thanks to the concept’s modularity. Like all GEA Niro plants used in foodstuff applications, the VSD/F is equipped with appropriate hygiene, safety and monitoring features. All VSD/F configurations include the following: indirect gas heater, rotary atomizer, chamber with swan’s neck, and an exhaust system that can be either cyclone only, bag filter only, cyclone plus bag filter, or cyclone plus scrubber.

DRYNETICS™
DRYNETICS™ is a concept that engineers from GEA Niro have been working on for the past three years. The DRYNETICS™ concept is ideal for making computer simulations to optimize and make better plants. Tests are run on a given feed, and a model of the drying process is made on basis of that. The model is put into the CFD simulations of full scale spray dryers, which makes the calculations very accurate. DRYNETICS™ combined with the know-how of GEA Niro’s engineers finds spray drying conditions and plant design for a customer’s product ensuring that an offered plant is optimized in respect to product quality and plant capacity. This saves the customer money. The customers can also use the assembling to examine different products.

Explosion vent module
The unique GEA Niro-standard Explosion Vent Module is developed in cooperation with Fike Europe B.v.b.a. Typical plants delivered today are not specifically designed for explosion venting. Often local suppliers are used, and explosion risk exceeds hygienic risk.
